The Master of Finance Program (MFin) is a two-year, full-time, master degree course offered by Guanghua School of Management, Peking University, aiming at the development of China’s financial market. Advanced theoretical and quantitative analysis methods of modern finance, economics and management will be taught for the purpose to cultivate students’ research capability to solve theoretical and practical problems by comprehensively using professional expertise, uncover their creative potential so that they are up to an excellent job in the financial field. To best achieve this end, MFin Program has designed courses featuring small-scale and boutique. By learning prerequisite, module, practice, and international courses, students graduate with great professionalism and comprehensive qualities.
Our 5 Differentiators
Guanghua prides with more than 100 full-time faculties. They come from the Department of Finance, Applied Economics, Accounting and Management of Guanghua. They are either master scholars who have participated in the economic reform and government decision-making, or senior professors in academia, or young scholars who have been trained overseas, with strong love for research, and are dedicated to teaching.
Guanghua is also proud to have part-time professors and specially appointed professors of foreign nationals who have rich expertise and practical experience in finance.
The “Industry Mentor Plan of the Master of Finance Program of Guanghua” invites experts and scholars from the industry, famous Guanghua alumni, as well as senior managers of government and financial institutions to be off-campus mentors of the Program. Each mentor instructs 4-6 students and the Program was officially commenced in 2013.
Invited mentors will interact with students in different ways, sharing their professional expertise and business experience, encouraging students to grow, and guiding their career development. The plan aims to build a platform between industry elite, MFin alumni and students, serving as a stage for industry personnel to contribute to the educational cause by way of nurturing financial talents for the new era. In addition, it will enhance the communication and connection between alumni and alma mater, making it a significant carrier over which alma mater and alumni help and support each other.
The “MFin Mentoring Committee” consists of senior scholars in finance and related fields, business elite, well-known alumni, senior officials of government and financial regulators, as well as senior managers of business organizations. Committee members give advice and suggestions on development and teaching reform of the MFin Program, in addition to career development of students.
Guanghua has signed exchange and cooperation agreements with more than 120 top international business schools, including the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. In fact, our partner schools are located in 34 countries and regions, including North America, Europe, Asia and Oceania.
More than 95% of our graduates directly get employed following graduation. Since 2004, graduates of Guanghua MFin have joined famous international investment banks such as Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase & Co and HSBC; famous domestic and international fund companies, such as China AMC, Harvest Fund and China Southern Asset Management, and also major domestic securities firms such as CICC, CITIC Securities, Shenyin & Wanguo Securities, and Guotai Junan Securities. Graduates now have their presence across the world including the US, Europe, Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong and other parts of the world.
About 5% of graduates go abroad to pursue Ph.D degrees.

Related functional departments include: Departments at investment banks, research, investment and financing, fixed income, consulting, fund management, risk management, sales transaction, project management, human resources, strategic planning, marketing, financial accounting, audit, and quantity analysis among others.
Areas of employment: About 90% are concentrated in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangdong and 10% find employment overseas.
The 17-year-old MFin Program has, by now, a more than 1,000 alumni network, being active in global financial centers. Diverse alumni activities promote connections between different grades, and provide a broad platform for communication. It serves to open a window to understand the industry. With abundant alumni resources, the MFin Program is committed to further strengthening connections and interactions of the alumni by means of arranging regular meetings, inviting elite alumni as mentors, and contacting alumni for corporate visits. Guanghua provides first-class services for alumni, including: alumni association activities at all levels, alumni salon, the annual Alumni Homecoming Day, alumni lifelong learning opportunities, summer camp for children, alumni party, etc.
