Peking University ranks in the world’s top 50 in a total of 32 subjects, the highest among universities in the Chinese mainland, according to the 2020 QS rankingsby subject.
In fields specifically related to the Guanghua School of Management, PKU’s Accounting and Finance rises one spot to the 23th from last year, Economics and Econometrics up five spots to 25th while Business and Management Studies ranks the 36th.
The QS World University Rankings is an annual publication of university rankings which comprises the global overall and subject rankings and names the world’s top universities for the study of 48 different subjects and five composite faculty areas ) . This year’s rankings are based on four major aspects including academic reputation, employer reputation, papers and citations as well as H-index that measures both the productivity and impact of the published work of a scientist or scholar.
“Ranking is not everything, but it does reflectworld recognitions andthe progress of a college after long-term development efforts ,” said Guanghua’s Dean Liu Qiao. “ In fact, what Guanghua has done is far beyond the scope of this evaluation.”
According to Liu, Guanghua sticks to academic studies based on science and reasons, with a focus on pushing forward research on major issues in China’s economic development and commercial frontlines. “ Comparing us with other leading business colleges will help understand our position in the world and motivates us further to build a world-class business school in China.”
With a 111-strong full-time faculty, Guanghua saw more than 100 academic papers accepted or published by leading domestic and overseas publications. Guanghua scholars routinely ranked first in the Most Cited Researchers in Chinese colleges in the field of Humanities and Social Sciences in the past 12 years.
In 2017, Guanghua launched its Thought Leadership Platform with the mission to promote research addressing critical and structural problems in public policy and frontier business practices in China and contribute to industrial and national development, developing more than 100 research projects so far along with cases,courses, forums and reports.
Guanghua offers a variety of undergraduate, postgraduate, master and MBA programs as well as innovative courses in Fintech, Reits and other cutting-edge fields, fostering a team of data and analysis talents for the frontline of China’s economic development.

Peking University announced its new Belt and Road Institute on April 20, 2018. The Institute, rooted in Guanghua, provides educational opportunities to future leaders for the new type of globalization, conduct research relevant to BRI projects, and serve as a platform for people-to-people exchange. It organized a series of lectures to help scholars understand China better with high-level analysis and critique from leading Chinese academics, industry professionals and commentators on what lies ahead for businesses as the global environment changes and boundaries shift.
A group of foreign learners will kick-start a two-year “Future Leaders" international undergraduate program this year in Guanghua.
