The Guanghua Global Service Month project has come to an end, but our spirit for service lives on! During the activity, we received contributions from Guanghuaers all over the world. Some of them championed their firms for charity services while others conveyed goodwill through small acts of kindness. It was a very moving sight to see so many of them actively giving back to their communities. As the saying by Oscar Wilde goes, “The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intention.” Our Guanghuaers have demonstrated this fully throughout the service month, and will continue to live up to it in the future!

Zoe Morgan (Class of 2023),a part ofthe Future Leaders International Double Degree program at Guanghua, coordinated her school cafe to offer free lunch to students in need. This program continued for two and a half months. On average, she served 40-50 students per day. Through this, she helped ensure that the students were well nourished so they can continue to be able to meet academic and extra-curricular demands.

During the Wenchuan earthquake, Guanghua alumnus Xia Chunwei worked as an interpreter and assistant for the Australian Red Cross to assist with international relief work. This inspired him to obtain his Master’s Degree the social enterprise management program in Guanghua. After graduating, he worked for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in Beijing. Over the years, he has been involved in many projects to assist with post-disaster reconstruction.

Du Zhengqing, an alumnus of Guanghua, led an interactive games company to take up social responsibility and set up "co-creation bases" in 15 schools in Shaanxi and Hunan provinces through the " Caohua Public Welfare" fund. Up till now, by reaching out to rural schools and helping disadvantaged school-age groups, Du has helped thousands of teachers and students improve their learning and living environment .

ExEd alumnus Chen Chongwu led his own companies to initiate an oral health care project to provide free oral health check-up services for children and popularize oral health knowledge for primary and secondary school students in Guangxi province.

Ren Pingping, an alumna of Guanghua EMBA, has been leading her team to do charity since 2017.In the past few years,her team helped more than500 schoolsin remote areas in many provinces by bringing artificial intelligence science classes and learning products to children.She helps left-behind children, practicing the true meaning of educational charity.

Hainan Alumni Association launched a charity night in the province, during which activities such as charity sharing and charity auctions were held, focusing on issues such as the rescue of injured sea turtles and artificial breeding of sea turtles to protect the blue ocean together. During the event, 10 charity auction items donated by Guanghua alumni were sold, raising a total of RMB 115,976. All were used for the "Sea Turtle Rescue" project.

The Guanghua EMBA Football Club Charity Volunteer Team donates football training equipment to primary and secondary schools through charity matches. They also regularly bring football activities to campuses.

Thanks for all the photos and stories shared by Guanghuaers from around the world, Guanghua is proud of you. Although The Guanghua Global Service Month project has come to an end in May this year, helping others is something we can do all year round. We will end with a quote from Helen Keller, “The unselfish effort to bring cheer to others will be the beginning of a happier life for ourselves.” Indeed, may our kindness persevere in these trying times.
