Testimonials for 2020 Guanghua School of Management MBA IPP @Avitec
Part 1: Testimonial from Enterprise

Part 2: Testimonial from Student

Team Name: Flying over Weiming Lake
Members: Lingfeng Yuan, Wei Wu, Yini Ren, Bo Chen, and Nanye Yang
After one month of communication and research, we have got a better understanding of the IPP and the corresponding enterprise, increasing our knowledge of new fields and broadening our knowledge base. Some of our team members who had worked overseas for ten years have little knowledge of the status quo and operational model of state-owned enterprises (SOEs), while others who once dealt with SOEs at work provide great help for the project. Through cooperation, all of us have benefited a lot and acquired information and knowledge that would otherwise be unavailable on an off campus.
After field research, we sorted out the collected data and information and divided project tasks. We got a clear understanding of the components of the entire project, division of tasks, and approaches after the meeting. The field research allows us to not only have some preliminary knowledge of the field of civil aviation equipment but also get familiar with each other and form a team that acts in concert, shares a common goal, and has a clear division of duty.
Through team integration, problem analysis, field research, problem review, data collection, plan preparation, and full-process communication management, our team members have not only improved the ability to coordinate multiple important tasks but also sharpen the skills of time management and plan preparation. As the standards for plans are based on those for theses, it practically offers a chance for us to hone our thesis writing skills.
Specifically, our project enables us to get a better understanding of the policy environment, atmosphere, and specific contradictions in the process of SOE reform, learn about the problems and difficulties in the marketization of SOEs, and deeply engaged in the wave of deepening SOE reform. This is of great significance for us to learn about, participate in, and forecast the ever-evolving business environment and its future.
Part 3: Testimonial from Professor

Professor Chong Wang, Department of Management Science and Information Systems, Guanghua School of Management
The IPP offers a highly valuable learning and communication platform. By proposing and studying the specific practical problems at enterprises and developing plans accordingly, students can deepen their industry involvement, better understand the practical role of theoretical learning, and improve practical abilities. The IPP also promotes in-depth communication between enterprises and academia and provides different perspectives for enterprises to solve their problems with the help of students. As I see it, the biggest difficulty for students in the specific process is in the project startup phase. More guidance and activities are needed to help them jumpstart the project and increase their enthusiasm. When they get a growing understanding of the practice scenarios at the enterprise and adapt to their role, they can exert more power. In addition, the team leader plays a significant role. To enable the team leader to play a more active role should improve the effects of the project.
Practice scenarios are important in the IPP. The COIVD-19 pandemic poses a big obstacle to field research. As a result, the team members lack a thorough perception of practice scenarios, making it more difficult to integrate into the project promotion process. Additionally, I feel that the depth and frequency of communication is also affected to some extent, so is the project progress.
I hope that the students can fully realize the value and uniqueness of the IPP, overcome the difficulties that come with social distancing restrictions due to the pandemic, understand the problems faced by the enterprise, and proactively conduct in-depth communication with the enterprise. At the same time, I hope that the students can think about the practical challenges faced by the enterprise more dialectically, delve into the crux of the problems, set research goals, and effectively push forward the project. Please feel free to ask more questions and communicate more with each other to bring into full play team synergy.
About IPP
The Integrated Practicum Project (IPP) is a required course for full-time and international MBA classes at Guanghua School of Management, Peking University. It is an education-industry partnership aimed at building a practice platform to help solve the practical problems at enterprises and improve the comprehensive management skills of MBA students. The basic framework of the IPP, an experiential course, is as follows: After completing the core courses, students go to the selected enterprises in teams to carry out business projects under the guidance of professors. They need to come up with proposals and hand over consulting reports to the enterprises and professors. Each project revolves around a real-world topic designed and provided by a particular enterprise based on its own needs in order to solve actual problems. In the IPP, the teams can provide strategic, marketing, human resources, financial, and other solutions to help address the management problems of enterprises in transition and devise business plans for the development of startups or growing enterprises.
